No, I'm not dead. I do still come regularly here on dA (at least once a week), it's just that twitter, twitpic and flickr are sucking every little second of my spare time.
So, how are you?
Some months ago I ended moving most of my pictures on dA to Flickr. Too bad the second part of the process, where I was supposed to add here my best shots, hasn't happened yet (and I don't really know when I'll be able to accomplish it).
2011 was definitely a big year for me, I'm amazed thinking about how many things happened: I ended both my studies at university and conservatory, I had some fun organizing a personal photo exhibition (
Xalira.deviantart.com/journal/…) and some cultural events in Vicenza and Verona, I almost made it to work for one of Italy's most important publishing companies... I had also some personal recognition as a photographer, having one picture published in a CD booklet of an important Italian artist (
twitpic.com/7tanfk).
Then, 2012: my request for a full-time job in the place where I work vanished because of economic reasons, many job interviews and emails sent, with little or no success. I got a new collaboration as a freelance journalist for a local weekly magazine and one company contacted me for a job in web marketing, and it's what I hope will soon be my new full-time job. I still study singing, but (always because of the economic downturn) it's difficult to find places to sing at. Even
morpheu5 moved to UK for a PhD, leaving me without a concert fellow.
Art, as always, is the thing that keeps me going on: and since
morpheu5's 400D is gone, I finally made my best decision in years: I bought a Canon 7D and a 70-200 f4 IS. Changes in photo sharpness, colors (and weight) are dramatic. I'm falling in love with photography once again, and I can't wait to flood my flickr and dA accounts with pictures. I have already pics of Loreena McKennitt, Nightwish and some jazz people (with a photo pass!), and tonight there's one of the craziest Italian band in my city (Elio e le storie tese).
I feel I haven't been the smartest person all these years, not taking part in photo contests, promoting my works and finding other photography lovers in my city. I guess it's never too late to start. Wish me good luck!
